TIMBER!!

I need to take a break from the vacation to share an interesting day we had last week. I was at work and we were having quite the wind storm. Lisa gives me a call to tell me that we lost a tree!!!

The next morning, our neighbor called a friend to come out and take care of it. After the first cut...

I hear "well, that didn't work".

Then I step inside and I hear screaming. So I go downstairs to see what's going on and I see my little tree-huggers.

Isn't that sweet?! My girls LOVE that tree. They cried and cried while the guy cut it down.

Something else completely random...tonight we decided to be pirates.

Hope you enjoyed the random post tonight.

on with the show...

We pick up our adventure on Saturday, the 11th. Mom, Dad, Lisa, and the girls got up at 5:30am to be at the train depot by 6:15. An early start to an awesome day. They all took the train down to Seward and I met them down there so we'd have a car for the weekend. Since our favorite cabin was sold this summer (GGRRRRR!!!) we searched and searched and decided to stay at the Cottage on the Bay. It was a great choice. It is as close to the water that I've ever stayed...literally kick a rock from the porch and it will fall into Resurrection Bay.

Great view, eh?

View of the cabin looking back from the water.

I wish I had a ball and a driver so I could pull a Kramer...."hole in one."

nice view, eh?

Right outside the cottage was one of many bald eagles we saw hanging out.

Upstairs of the cottage

Time for a walk on the beach.

After dinner, we returned to find the tide had gone out...way out!

Father and son chillaxin

Found some jellies that washed up during high tide.

"MARSHPILLOWS!!"

What a perfect day.

birthday celebration

So instead of staying in town and eating out, we decided to come back home, pick up some Moose's Tooth, and make some cupcakes. I liked that plan a lot more.

First the "chefs in training" prepare the cupcakes.

Notice the chocolate around her lips.

They couldn't wait for the adults...so they had theirs a little early.

Time to put the sprinkles on the cupcakes.

One for you. One for me.

At this point in the slide show, Lisa would like you to ignore the 6 pack of Shiner Bock in the background.

"I'll just go ahead and finish off those sprinkles."

TAA DAAAHHH!!!!

The payoff.

Happy birthday, Dad! Thanks for spending it with us.
