2 big bears

One of the girls favorite new tricks is called "the bear". Most of the time, all we have to say is "where's the bear?" or something similar and they both will show us. Even if they're upset, we can distract them with the bear. It's really funny to see them reluctantly bend over and stick their butt up in the air when they are still pouting as if they have no control over their response.

The first 3 our of Katy. We found her climbing up under the table. I got the camera out to get a quick picture and she crawled down and over to me as fast as she could. As you can tell in the last one, she was yelling the whole time. I think it was the excitement of getting caught doing something wrong.

Here are my big bears. The second picture, Alyssa is applauding her own upside down efforts.

And a video to boot. If you watch closely, you can see the two of them bonk heads and the delayed reaction from Katy while she figures out that it really hurt...then the reluctant bear.

WOW! We have cute babies!

We have been so fortunate with our healthy girls. The girls are both getting some more teeth which has resulted in a couple hard nights but overall they are spoiling us. They take great naps and 90% of the time, they sleep through the night. Not too bad.

The weather this summer is definitely not spoiling us. It has been a cool summer so far and we're just now getting close to our wet time of year...August. June and July have been cloudy and cool. We've only hit 70 degrees twice this year!! We still get out and go for bike rides though. The other day we saw a moose that must have wondered down to the trail from Denali Nat'l Park. Ok, not really...but he was HUGE! Definitely the biggest moose we've seen in Anchorage. Unfortunately we didn't have our camera so no proof but I'll be looking for him these next couple of days.

A few days ago we saw another first up on the hillside. The area is called Bear Valley...it's about 15 or 20 minutes away. We drove up there on a rainy day to look for moose and we came across a LYNX!! It walked out on the street in front of us about 30 yards away. We couldn't believe our eyes. I would have been less surprised to see a bear but a LYNX!!??...that was awesome.

We've seen one other lynx when we went on a bear viewing trip in 2006 to Katmai Nat'l Park. We were able to take a quick picture as he/she slowly walked away from us like we didn't exist. The one we saw the other day looked exactly like this.

And some pictures of the babes I took today.

Fashion Show

I was going through some pictures and realized that Lisa has been taking pictures of their different outfits. I thought I'd go back and share some of their outfits from this past week. The cutest was these last couple of days, they've been wearing dresses but the camera was hiding in my golf bag so we didn't get any pics of that. We'll have to do that this weekend again.

The girls are wearing shoes in these last 2 pics.

4th of July pics. I couldn't choose which one so I posted all three.

I can't remember what they were watching on tv but it really got their attention. Look at those serious faces.

we're going on vacation!!!

To all of those who have been waiting to hear the news, we finally bought the tickets and are going on vacation. The great-grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended families, and friends will finally get a chance to meet the girls. And we'll be leaving Alaska for the first time since we went to Germany in December of 06!! (besides my quick weekend trip down to Lisa R's wedding)

Email me if you want details but the dates we talked about are what we finally settled on. The delay was because we thought the girls might not be ready for a big adventure like this but it's really us that might not be ready. While the girls seem to be very sensitive to any changes in their routine, the positives far out weighed any temporary problems that pop up. So we're doing it!!!

See if you can't tell them apart. The first one is easy. It's get a little more difficult after that.

And this last one is to show the little curls on the back of their head. Alyssa still has more hair than Katy but they both have the curls.
